It’s the last match day. The feeling is bitter sweet in many ways. The end of the club season means the world cup is coming and transfer season is upon. That being said, our predictions will go away for a while and this brings us sadness. Here is or latest Coshcast discussing last week’s results and previewing the final day games.
Here’s a reminder of last week’s scores and a recap of how we stand. Bernie is ahead but miracles do happen. Like City, he has a chance to be crowned champion, like Liverpool vs Palace, theres always a chance of a comeback! As usual, a correct outcome warrants a point, while a perfect score gets three points
Sunday March 11th:
Cardiff City vs Chelsea:
Bernie: I’m not sure there’s any point of predicting this one. Why would Cardiff even suit up for this game? The Bond villain Vincent Tan has absolutely ruined this team and now he gets his reward. Chelsea don’t turn off under Jose Mourinho, so I expect them to perform well and run over the Welshmen in this one. 2-0 Chelsea
Mohaned: Both teams here have nothing to play for. I think the atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium will be hostile from the fans towards the club’s ownership for getting this season so horribly wrong. Mourinho might play some of his fringe players in this one and just hope the 90 minutes are over quickly. 1-0 Chelsea.
Rishay: Cardiff have no incentive to play and Chelsea have every reason to win. It would not be enough for them to win the title but I can’t see Mourinho’s men giving it away. 3-1 Chelsea
Liverpool vs Newcastle:
Bernie: Newcastle won last week! I can’t believe it, Pardew saved his job! It wasn’t really in danger was it? Luis Suarez and co. cried me a river after gifting 3 goals to Crystal Palace and as a result gifting City the league title. I think they’ll be out to make up for that and hope that City slip up. 3-0 Liverpool
Mohaned: Newcastle stopped their rot in the last game but I dont think that would be enough to appease the fans. on the other hand, Liverpool fans are confused on how to assess their own season. Get greedy and complain about the bottle job they saw for the title run in, or be happy with the project that Brenden Rogers is building. Either way Liverpool must win to put some pressure on City. 2-0 Liverpool.
Rishay: Liverpool will give the Magpies such a beating that this could be the straw that breaks Pardew’s back and end his time at the Toon. The Reds have no choice but to win otherwise they will finish without any silverware. 4-0 Liverpool.
City vs West Ham:
Bernie: SAM OUT! No no no, the West Ham fans need to relax a little bit I think. Sam Allardyce has done a good job keeping the hammers in the league. Manuel Pellegrini is on the other end of the spectrum. Poised to bring City their second title in three years and his first in Europe. A draw is enough but I think they’ll win here. 2-0 City.
Mohaned: We all know the mathematics of the situation; a draw will secure City their 2nd title in 3 years. A great great accomplishment. I had them as firm winners before the league started but they do always seem to make a habit of making a meal of it. This wont be the case here though. a 2-0 win will see them lift the title.
Rishay: City will only need a draw to realistically win the title, unless Liverpool score 13 or 14 against Newcastle. I think City will have enough to comfortably crush the Hammers. 4-0 City.
Norwich vs Arsenal:
Bernie: Bye Norwich! They’ve had a horrible run in facing, Manchester United, Chelsea and now Arsenal. Arsenal will beat the hell out of them and perhaps we’ll see another tiki-taka goal here. Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may return which is good news for the gunners. I see this one ending 2-0 to the Arsenal.
Mohaned: Another game with nothing to play for. If Norwich werent already relegated, Arsene wouldve played a strong 11 for fairness’s sake. Now that Norwich’s fate is sealed, I think we will see a young arsenal side. Norwich wont even turn up for this one. 3-1 Arsenal.
Rishay: Norwich are DONE! Sunderland have made the great escape and the Canaries are going down. Arsenal will enjoy playing some free flowing football against them. 4-2 Arsenal.
Southampton vs Manchester United:
Bernie: United won’t win this game. I’m saying this in the hope that they prove me wrong. Reverse psychology! Southampton are a good side and won’t just roll over to allow the Giggsy lovefest to continue. As a result I see a draw here as United won’t have enough to break the saints down. 1-1 draw
Mohaned: This wouldve been an exciting game if anything was riding on it. Now the Southampton players are just playing for moves away from the club to join bigger ventures, some even to Manchester United. Giggs will want to end his reign at united on a positive so will take this game seriously. I see a 2-1 Southampton win.
Rishay: Probably Giggs’ final game in charge of United, and this will probably be a riot. Southampton are good tho, and it could be a very entertaining affair. I see United attacking all out. 4-1 United.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa:
Bernie: Tim Sherwood will want to bow out on a high if this is to be his final game in charge. Adebayor wants him to stay and will likely produce the performance of his life in honour of his saviour. Villa are porous and should get beaten resoundingly. 2-0 Spurs
Mohaned: We will miss you Sherwood! We really will. As usual, he didnt dissapoint with his crazy and absolutely insane pre match conference. Win or Lose, i think Tottenham had a very underwhelming season after spending 100mil on new players. maybe this is the start of the beggining for them. 1-1 draw.
Rishay: Can Tottenham solidify their Europa League place? We shall see. Villa put in a spirited performance at City but still lost by the same margin at the Etihad as Tottenham did. I think Spurs will win. 2-1 Tottenham.
