Messi gets another Ballon GOAT with Rapinoe, Allison and De Ligt in tow, Liverpool and Leicester keep everyone else at bay, Dele leads Spurs down the Alli way and at the Emirates, Emery has had his day.
Pep pops as City are rocked at Anfield, but is the Catalan approaching the end of a cycle?
Arsenal can’t keep up with Leicester who are on their bicycle, Chelsea are riding high still, and Pochettino looks like he might cry.
Call him Quique Sanches Florist because Watford are as easy to walk through as a bunch of flowers, Spurs lose away from home again, this time at the King Power, Phil Jones calls for Solskjaer to sacked and gets an Ed Woodward glower, Aubameyang saves Emery like the Prince saving Repunzal from the tower, and Liverpool beat Chelsea in second gear to the extent that they may not have even needed a post game shower.
The Canadian Premier League teams have kits, the top four race in the English Premier League is doing bits, Watford stun Wolves in the FA Cup semis it’s, not long until the Champions League gets heavy, in Spain Barca win 2-0 against Atleti, in Italy, Juve beat Milan with a few minutes to go, who would have betted?
Last season Liverpool were undone by Loris, this year will they be gifted the title by Lloris as the Reds scrape past Spurs, will Aldeweireld watching. Arsenal leapfrog into third, Solsksjaer’s record remains absurd, Chelsea’s win is undeserved and Manchester City remain unperturbed.
In the FA Cup Wolves chomp United, Swansea give City a fright and
a great weekend for the Scousers as Everton beat Chelsea and Liverpool are back in with a shout it’s, all to play for in the Premier League.
Elsewhere for Messi against Betis it was three of quite literally the best, Real under Zidane pass their first test and Inter win the Milan derby as the race for third in Serie A sees no rest.
A once great manager returns to his former club in their hour of need, but don’t worry, we won’t just talk about Ranieri, because Zidane’s back too.
Kepa practises abstinence as he refuses to get off, United and Liverpool are similarly dysfunctional, Spurs are undone by 2019’s King of the North, Sean Dyche, and Arsenal pulverize a tragic Southampton.
Liverpool drop points away from home, Arsenal’s defending is schoolboy but Guendouzi is grown, speaking of Heung Min Son goes it alone, and is Higuain finally the heir to Diego Costa’s throne?
Elsewhere Rashford doesn’t let up, Morata and Atleti get stuck, Vinicius and Messi go nuts like macadamia and Giovinco’s ended up in sunny Saudi Arabia.
Arsenal beat Chelsea as Sarri and Bellerin both go out on a limb, at Anfield if only Speroni had known it wasn’t goal-bound he might have left it alone he’s now probably quite lonely, Solskjaer shines brighter than a convenience store sign as he makes it 7 out of 7 and finds a settled eleven, and Fulham have a draw snatched out of their hands in the blink of an eye as Winks steals the points for Spurs.
Big games across Europe as Manchester United react to the derby loss by falling back on their full backs, Barcelona lose at home for the first time since the Spanish civil war, Solari gets to stay at the party and Higuain gets Higwound up as Milan land in trouble.
Captain’s Pog’s in the captain’s log,
Sissoko plays but Spurs still please Poch.
Kante’s goal and Jorginho’s slot,
Liverpool rampant West Ham lost the plot,
Speaking of which Cech’s passing’s dross…
He was labelled by the Argentine media as ‘having a bucket on his head’ after some spotted his inability to pick his head up for a pass, and his tendency to lose possession on needless dribbles.
We all know the severity of the situation in war-torn Syria and the national team’s progress in World Cup qualifying was a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak situation. Unfortunately, for those of us who love an underdog story, Australia won in extra time.
It’s the Coshcast! Yes, like Liverpool’s defensive issues, we’re here every week. We start in MLS where Justin Morrow’s hat-trick came just in time to seal the Supporters’ Shield for Toronto FC. In the Premier League, City go to Stamford Bridge, put Chelsea neatly in De Bruyne paper bag and walk off home.
It’s the Coshcast and this week we’re chatting about what happened in New England as Toronto FC lost their second game in a row, and old England where Crystal Palace lost their sixth.
Totti’s retirement sees the most tears in Rome since earlier this week when Donald Trump visited the Pope.
Messi gets Real Madrid to Zidane and shut up as his last minute winner puts Barcelona level with Daddy Yankee – number 1 in Spain.
According to some simply horrifying football “news” outlets, Manchester United are readying a 173m pound or 200m euro deal to sign Neymar from Barcelona. The Cosh boys have a throw down on the topic as we aim to get to the bottom of this.
Luis Enrique announced this week that he’s stepping down as Barcelona manager at the end of this season. What kind of legacy does he leave, and who would best replace him? Bernie & Alex discuss:
Chelsea go on the Conte attack to earn their Spurs, Liverpool continue to roll onwards despite being twice Ndonged, Arsenal defeat Bournemouth despite Ake at the back, and Mourinho may need to hit a bottle of red after getting a red for hitting a bottle.
Leicester took one look at Chelsea’s £60m a year deal with Nike and reckoned they could get a bit of that action if they continue to defend their title as poorly as their predecessors.
It was an action packed Saturday in the Premier League as Pep’s City play football from another planet and leave Manchester United very much like Saturn – with rings run around them, despite Claudio Bravo’s best attempts to ruin everything.

If you want to understand the club that FC Barcelona is you should probably start by knowing that there was, and still is, a sense of disappointment all around (players, club, fans) about not achieving the seemingly impossible and never-before-seen task of winning two trebles in a row. And while this might sound insane for people on the outside looking in, the thing is that this feeling is based on the belief that this Barça team is the best team in Europe.

The trophy room, which contained every trophy won since the 1900s and also had some interesting artifacts like Hristo Stoichkov’s boots and a signed Maradona shirt. It was interesting to watch the markings on the Copa del Ray change over the years in correlation with Spanish politics. During Franco’s reign for example, it was called the Copa del Generalisimo.
Whose Under the cosh?Barcelona for a start, after Real Madrid Zidance around them in the Clasico as Los Blancos put in a performance as shiny as their manager’s head.
Meanwhile in the Premier League Spurs find a surprising similarity with Mesut Ozil as they start looking ahead and behind at the same time, with Leicester winning again – boring – and Arsenal finally playing like a team that actually has a lot of good footballers in it.

This week, Gerard Pique came out and said that if Barcelona and Real Madrid were to go to the Premier League right now they would have no chance of winning the Premier League title, at least not in their first season. His rationale? “If you go to Stoke, or other types of teams, then it will be really tough.”

As the summer transfer window thankfully starts to wind down, it’s worth reflecting on what has been a period filled with very little other than lies, speculation and click bait.
Who is to blame for all the spurious, deceptive and fraudulent stories?
It’s tough to be a Manchester United fan right now. Chelsea hijacked Pedro, or United let Pedro go. No one knows exactly what happened but many United fans are upset. Rival fans are having a field day. Just look at Twitter. However, the following are the thoughts of […]
Backup strikers at top clubs these days have to be one – if not a combination of – the following:
Relatively unambitious (Remy).
Too old to expect a first team spot (Drogba) or too young and unestablished (Wilson) to expect a first team spot.
In decline or poor form and thus understanding that they do not merit a first team place (Falcao, Soldado, Van Persie).
Willing and able to play another position in order to get game time (Walcott, Welbeck).
