TV money this, TV money that. It’s all we seem to hear these days in relation to the English Premier League. Normally by early July we’ve heard about blockbuster signing after blockbuster signing.
The problem has always been the AFCON’s influence on the European leagues. Up until the tournaments last edition, it was always held in the winter months which meant that eligible African players would have to miss anywhere between 3 to 6 fixtures for their European club teams in the crucial run in period. The Premier League has always felt this effect in full force.
Leicester are still in the Champions League,
Having beaten Sevilla, it’s hard to believe,
but there they are in the draw as the rounds wear on,
They’ll face Atletico Madrid at the Stade Calderon.
You would imagine if Tony Pulis’s Stoke had ever conceded a header to Mesut Ozil that the current WBA manager would have done quite a lot of naked headbutting after the match.
