The Premier League may have abandoned you this week, but the Coshcast hasn’t.
We look back at the exciting weekend of South American World Cup qualifiers as Argentina took on Chile in what is known to wine-lovers as the Malbec derby, and Brazil vs Uruguay where the usual recourse for both sides is to kick each other as hard and often as possible.
Unfortunately things took a Cruyff turn for the worse in Europe this week, where, along with the tragic events in Belgium, the sad death of one of the world’s best ever players and thinkers and UEFA standing strong to defy the big clubs’ wish for a Super League by turning the European Cup into a Super League, we also had international friendlies to put up with.
We make the most of that, examining Italy against Spain, Holland against France and of course Germany against England whose fans are imploring Roy Hodgson to “give youth a chance”, but in the Mauricio Pochettino sense, rather than the Adam Johnson sense.
After all that we’ve got a brilliant round up of this week’s idiots in football, featuring a financially irresponsible German – yes, one exists – and a misogynistic Northern Irishman. Jump on board.
