EPL Matchday 28 Predictions (01/03/2014)

The Premier League is back! Less games to predict this weekend, as we are deprived of a mouthwatering Manchester Derby due to City’s engagement with the Carling Cup final. Knownig city’s squad, they couldve still fielded two different teams and won both games. Non the less, we have a nice selection of games this week.

Previous Matchday Scores:

Here’s a reminder of last week’s scores and a recap of how we stand. As usual, a correct outcome warrants a point while a perfect score holds 3 points:

Saturday February 29th:

Stoke Vs Arsenal:

Bernie: This is going to be a very tough game for Arsenal. Stoke at home aren’t a pushover and with Xavi Adam oops I mean Charlie Adam in midfield a wondergoal is on the cards or someone will have their legs broken. Arsenal will welcome back Mesut Ozil and a response will be expected. Don’t expect Stoke to score here. Arsenals defense is quite good. Arsenal to squeeze through 1-0.

Mohaned: With Arsenal all but out of the Champions league, their focus is returning to the domestic competitions in the League and the FA Cup, shich is more realistic anyways. Stoke away has always been a tricky fisture for Arsenal but that was under Tony Pulis. Under Mrk Hughes they are not as physical. Arsenal NEED to win this game to stay in touch with the top pack. 2-0 Arsenal.

Rishay: Arsenal bounced back from their European disappointment with a 4-1 demolition of Sunderland, and will have to show the same form away at Stoke if they are to put in a good shift away to Bayern in the near future. Stoke have recently come off a 2-1 home victory against Man United, but then again, who hasn’t beaten the Red Devils this season? Arsenal are the favourites and should be able to come away with the goods and keep pace. A reborn Giroud will find the back of the net. 3-1 Arsenal

Fulham Vs Chelsea:

Bernie: Fulham are on their 3rd manager. These guys aren’t chumps either. The pedigree of Jol, Meulensteen and Magath is impressive. However, they haven’t shown up all season and need to win here if they are to survive. Unfortunately they come up against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea squad. Chelsea feel they have a good shot at the title and will need to win games like this to assert themselves at the top of the table. It won’t be easy but a win for Chelsea 2-0.

Mohaned: Chelsea are not over fond of scoring too many goals. Mourinho wins games tactically and will not venture forward too much past 2 nil or so. Fulham will be under Felix Magath as their third manager this season. wow. Chelsea should win this if Mourinho doesnt tinker too much. 1-0 Chelsea.

Rishay: Fulham have been plucky in recent weeks, and with a derby game against Chelsea, and Felix Magath at the helm, they might show some pedigree. Chelsea have just come off a long trip away to Galatasaray where they drew 1-1, and there is a chance that they might show some fatigue. However, under their current run, Chelsea are the heavy favourites for this fixture. 2-1 Chelsea.

Southampton Vs Liverpool:

Bernie: What a game for the footballing purists this will be. Southampton will be buoyed with the England calls up received for 4 of their players. Liverpool will need to keep up their attacking brilliance but they need to solidify the back line. If they don’t the Saints will punish them. I see Liverpool riding their defensive luck for one more game at least 3-2 Liverpool.

Mohaned: This should be a game with no defending what so ever and a lot of free flowing football. Souhtampton are great at moving the ball around and will be buoyed by a couple of their players getting England call ups. Liverpool will keep doing what they do best and score goals. Suarez is due one lately and might deliver here. 2-2 Draw.

Rishay: A goal fest at home to Swansea over the weekend showed that Liverpool are capable of grinding out dogfights. Southampton are a team that are more than capable of upsetting the top dogs on their day and might prove to be difficult to break down. Nobody can discredit SAS however, and this deadly strike force will probably prove the difference between the sides. 2-1 Liverpool

Sunday February 30th:

Tottenham Vs Cardiff:

Bernie: Tottenham lost to Norwich last week and will be in need of a response. Defoe is going to Toronto so it’s a bittersweet moment for us at Under the Cosh. Cardiff have been terrible and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs a win desperately. Vincent Tan will be watching this keenly and so will we. I think Spurs may be a bit tired after playing Dnipro. 1-1 draw

Mohaned: Cardiff are in a very bad run of form which will not please their deranged owner Vincent Tan. I don’t think a visit to White Hart lane is what they need right now. Tottenham on the other hand are hot and cold, unlike Soldado who is just cold. Adebayor will step up AGAIN for spurs and give them the win here. He has been on fire with two late goals to get Spurs to the next round of the Europa League. If they dont want to be playing there again next season, then they need to start winning in the league. 3-1 Tottenham.

Rishay: Will Solskjaer’s start to the Premiership end with relegation? 20 Legend is finding life tough at the moment in Wales and White Hart Lane could be a nightmare if his team show up unprepared. They will be hoping that Spurs are fatigued from their Thursday kick off in the Europa League. Spurs to win 2-0 in this fixture.
