Matchday 8 Predictions:

Saturday October 19th:

“Game of the week – Newcastle vs Liverpool”

suarez and sturridge

Newcastle are hosting Liverpool for the early Saturday kick off which promises to be very exciting. Newcastle have been sub-par this season but are still racking up some points. Loic Remy, their only signing this transfer window on loan, has been in great form. He will need to be again on Saturday as he is up against what is probably the current best striker partnership in Europe in Suarez and Sturridge. The Newcastle crowd at St-James’s Park will be a large factor in getting behind their team. Lets see if it will be enough to at least get a point here for the home side.

Bernie: Liverpool have been on a roll while Newcastle have been hapless away from home barring a surprise victory against newcomers Cardiff. I’m going the safe route and say Suarez and Sturridge do the business again. 2-0 Liverpool

Mohaned: I think Liverpool will continue their good form. Newcastle will give it a good go but they have been unconvincing of late. Ill go with a 3-1 Liverpool victory. If they pull it off it would be a great result for them.

Rishay: I feel that Newcastle might have a chance to get at least a point here. No doubt the players who featured for their countries will be a bit worn down, but with all the talk of realistic expectations and downplaying their fine start to the season, Liverpool will come out strongly in this one and score an early goal. 2-1 Liverpool.

Arsenal vs Norwich:

Bernie: I’m not even going to give this one more than a second’s thought. Norwich can’t beat Arsenal at home. It just won’t happen. 3-1 Arsenal

Mohaned: I hope Arsenal continue their good form. Ozil seems to have passed a late fitness test and Arsenal should have too much quality for Norwich. Ill say a convincing 3-0 win for the Arsenal.

Rishay: Arsenal will win this game comfortably. Norwich would probably have some serious odds against them to get a result here, and only a brave and/or partially stupid man would bet on them getting a result here. 2-0 Arsenal.

Chelsea vs Cardiff:

Bernie: Cardiff have looked resilient in the premier league thus far but at Stamford Bridge Jose’s men will look to continue climbing the table. 3-0 Chelsea

Mohaned: Shurrle is on fire and i think he will guide Chelsea to victory here. Mourinho will expect nothing less than the three points and a convincing performance from his team. 3-0 Chelsea.

Rishay: I must say Andre Schurrle’s hat trick for Germany was nice, and I would expect him to be on the score sheet here if he features. Mourinho’s men are also quietly doing their business, and I expect them to control this game from start to finish. Cardiff might put up a brave resistance but they will be broken at some point. 3-1 Chelsea.

Man Utd vs Southampton:

Bernie: Off the back of a brace from 18 year old Adnan Januzaj, United look to have things back on track. That’s what we said when they beat Liverpool then lost to West Brom. The Saints have been good and will cause problems for Moyes’ Boys. 2-1 United

Mohaned: Southampton have been very good of late. Its never easy to go to Old Trafford but im gonna take a risk and say this game will end in a draw. Rooney and Van Persie are certainly the danger men but Southampton might just win the midfield battle. Combined with their quality attacking force i think they will cause United problems. 2-2 draw.

Rishay: Pochettino’s men have been pretty solid this season, and have come away with a big win at Anfield in recent weeks. They have conceded the fewest goals in the league so far and will probably be hard to break down at Old Trafford as well. United will have their work cut out for them and can’t afford to take this fixture lightly. The Saints are in fourth place and United are in ninth place surprisingly, and United must focus on their task at hand if they are to come away from this one with a much needed victory. 2-1 United.

West Ham vs Man City:

Bernie: City should win this game, they really should, but West Ham are tough to beat at home. Yaya Toure and Fernandinho will likely neutralize new hero Ravel Morrison although weirder things have happened. Good away win for City. 3-1 City

Mohaned: West Ham are on a high right now and the international break probably came at the worst time possible for them. After beating Tottenham 3-0 in the London derby last week, they will look to replicate that form against City. The difference is, Tottenham are no City. 2-0 City.

Rishay: The hammers are coming off a big 3-0 win against their local rivals Tottenham, and will probably be looking forward to this fixture. Generally at Upton Park, West Ham are a strong team and can hold their nerve. City will look to put their patchy string of results behind them and get three points here, which they are more than well equipped to do on paper. What unfolds on the pitch over the course of ninety minutes however in unpredictable, is why we love this game so much. 2-1 City.

Sunday October 20th:

Aston Villa vs Tottenham:

Bernie: Tottenham got flattened by West Ham and will need to bounce back. Aston Villa have already had good results against Arsenal and City and will look to claim another big team scalp here. With Spurs still gelling I see a draw on the cards here. 1-1 draw

Mohaned: Villa dont like playing at home. Rumors are Benteke might make the squad and even start this game. That will be a big boost for Villa. Tottenham have been OK so far while scrapping some results. Townsend will be the man to watch out for in white while Abgonlahor will give Spurs the most trouble. I see a patchy game from both sides. 1-1 draw is my prediction.

Rishay: The Spurs will look to get back on track here after their surprising home loss to West Ham in their previous fixture. Villa are better away from home but things could change after the international break. I would expect the Spurs to pull it together and get a result, since they have quality players and are looking to break into the top four. 2-1 Spurs.
