Its good to be back after the great Champions League break! Predicting the scores of the Premier league games for each matchday for the top 6 teams has been a lot of fun so far. 1 point is awarded for the correct outcome and 3 points for a perfect score. Here’s a reminder of last weeks action and results and the overall points tally for the three of us so far. Multiple perfect scores predicted last weekend!!!! Bernie with 3 perfect scores! I dont see that record being broken in a while.

Saturday September 21st:

Liverpool vs Southampton:

Bernie: Southampton have made some additions but at Anfield I can’t see past Liverpool. With Coutinho out I expect less creativity. 1-0 Liverpool

Mohaned: Last Suarez-less Liverpool game. Coutinho Being out will be a big factor but Liverpool’s star man will still be Sturridge. Southampton play possession football and will try to rattle Liverpool. This is a really hard one for me to predict. Ill go for a 1-1 draw.

Rishay:  A home game for a Liverpool team that has started the season well should end with a victory. Southampton are a tricky opponent and might provide one or two scares, but overall I think Liverpool will have too much for them to handle.2-1 Liverpool.

Chelsea vs Fulham:

Bernie: Mourinho will not allow his team to lose 3 straight games in all competitions. They might go nuts here. 3-0 Chelsea.

Mohaned: Chelsea will win this. They have to. They will also keep a clean sheet. Mourinho is done messing about. 2-0 Chelsea.

Rishay: This derby game has been a tight affair in recent seasons and Fulham have the capability to peg back a Chelsea side that haven’t put in a strong showing in recent weeks. I don’t think Chelsea can put in too many bad performances in a row and so they should be able to come out of this one with a narrow victory.2-1 Chelsea. 

Sunday September 22nd:

Arsenal vs Stoke:

Bernie: Injuries are starting to add up for the gunners. Stoke under Hughes look refreshed . That being said Arsene Wenger has a secret weapon and surprise surprise it’s Aaron Ramsey. 3-1 Arsenal

Mohaned: The arsenal squad is feeling the fatigue from being so thin. Wonderful starting 11 but no depth. Stoke is always a rough opposition for arsenal but thats usually away from home.  Ill go with a 2-0 Arsenal win.

Rishay:  Arsenal have gotten into their stride in the past couple of weeks and should be looking forward to a home game with their new star signing Mesut Ozil. I think Stoke will pack their midfield for this one and Arsenal will have plenty of time to unlock their back four.3-1 Arsenal.

Cardiff vs Tottenham:

Bernie: Cardiff gave City a shock here so I expect a tough game for Spurs. 1-0 Spurs, Soldado to get it.

Mohaned: Cardiff away will be a tough game for all premier league teams this season. Spurs finally scored from open play last game and they should continue their good form. They have been keeping many clean sheets aswell. Ill go 2-0 Spurs.  

Rishay: . The Spurs will have too much attacking power in this one for Cardiff to keep them out. Straightforward result. 2-0 Tottenham

“Game of the week – Manchester Derby”

Man City vs Man Utd:

This derby will be a delicious encounter between the red and blue halves of Manchester. Manchester United doing their job perfectly in their first champions league game of the season, will now have to regroup and refocus their attention on their noisy neighbors. City on paper have a superior team and playing at home should be going for the win! Man Utd’s team work and tactical nous will be the deciding factor in this game for them. Either way, this is a game you definitely do not want to miss

Bernie: United look more solids in the middle with Fellaini and City’s strikers found their scoring boots in the champions league. This game is always spectacular. It’s Fellaini vs Toure. The winner of that battle determines the result. I’ll sit on the fence 1-1 draw.

Mohaned: The big one this week! The game being at the Etihad should give City an advantage. This game will be played both centrally and on the wings. Both teams love to counter attack which should make it a very interesting encounter. Man utd have the advantage out wide while City have it through the middle. 2-1 City.

Rishay:  A bold prediction at the Etihad Stadium but City have dropped some points in recent weeks and United have bolstered their midfield and should be able to challenge City in the middle of the park. This will be a tight and fiery affair and I think it will be a hard fought victory at the end of the day.2-1 United.
