Matchday 4 Predictions:
Saturday September 14th:
ManUtd vs Crystal Palace:
Bernie: United should get back on track here. I expect a bit of an experimental squad with Zaha facing his old team. Fellaini should step right in to impose himself and Kagawa should play some part. 2-0 United
Mohaned: It’ll be interesting to see Fellaini turn out for Man Utd in this one. I think RVP and Rooney will have a great time against Palace. Moyes will want to put the transfer window misery behind him and also bounce back from the loss to Liverpool. 2-0 Man Utd.
Rishay: Even though I really want to personally see United bash Palace back into the championship, I think Palace will be tough to breakdown. I must also considerably reduce my expectations considering Moyes is still bedding in. 3-0 United with Rooney playing a key role.
Stoke vs ManCity:
Bernie: I expect that Stoke will take the game to City in this one but City should be too strong for them. New defensive signing Demichelis is out of this so the backline should still be shaky. 2-1 City win
Mohaned: Stoke dont look the force that they were under Tony Pulis. Mark Hughes is trying to get them to play a passing game but its impossible when you dont have the personnel. That being said its never an easy task going to the Britannia. Ill go for a 3-1 City win.
Rishay: 2-1 Man City. I think Stoke will be up for the challenge considering it is a home fixture for them but City will have too much attacking guile to draw a blank.
Tottenham vs Norwich:
Bernie: Spurs will take this one and I think it will be comfortable. Lamela should start and will fully express himself. Eriksen may not play but I expect more than 1 goal. 2-0 Spurs
Mohaned: Will Spurs finally score from open play!? And how many of their new signings will we see this game? Eriksen? Lamela? I think spurs SHOULD win this one at home.1-0 Spurs.
Rishay: Spurs have underachieved his season so far. In theory they should have enough capability in the attacking third to put this game away but it all depends on how they perform as a unit. 1-0 Spurs.
Sunderland vs Arsenal:
Bernie: Will Ozil play? This might be a tough match to throw him into as Di Canio’s men will have a serious point to prove. Arsenal to squak through. 2-1 Arsenal
Mohaned: OZIL OZIL OZIL! We know he wont start but if it all goes to plan we might see him introduced in the 60th minute or so. What a start to his EPL career. Sunderland away then stoke the next game. Lets hope Arsenal continue their good form. 3-1 Arsenal.
Rishay: If the Arsenal dressing room is half as boosted as their fans over the past week then we should see the gunners come out of the traps flying. Perhaps their new star man might also feature? We shall wait and see. Ultimately, Sunderland should be 3 points for Arsenal without any questions asked. 3-0 Arsenal.
Everton vs Chelsea:
Bernie: Everton did some very good business and will be desperate for a win after 3 draws on the bounce. Can’t see them getting that win though. Chelsea to win but barely. 1-0 Chelsea
Mohaned: This will be a tough game for Chelsea depending on Mourinho’s mood. If he sticks to the winning formula with a striker uptop then chelsea should just knick this. But i think he will mess about with the formation and surprise us resulting in a draw. 2-2.
Rishay: Everton and Chelsea have had some good battles over the years. I like the way Martinez sets up his teams and so far this season they have done a good job. Without Fellaini enforcing in the middle, the Toffees might have something to think about but ultimately they will still have the capacity to scrap out a draw. 1-1 draw.
Monday September 16th:
GAME OF THE WEEK:
Swansea vs Liverpool:
Travelling to wales is always a potential banana skin for the top teams as the fans there are a true twelfth man. Swansea are a good side with a lot of potential and a talented young manager. In the other corner, Liverpool are the inform team at the start of this season. If Sturridge can keep up his scintillating form then Liverpool will always have a chance! We are in for a great game!
Bernie: This should be a game for the footballing purists. Tip-tap, tiki-taka football all over the place. Brendan Rogers comes up against his old team. They’ve moved on from him and have done very well for themselves. This might be the upset of the weekend. Liverpool’s run of wins ends here 2-2 draw.
Mohaned: Swansea are a great side but i don’t see a reason why Liverpool wont continue their great start to the season. The only problem might be injuries catching up to them with Sturridge a doubt and Gerrard probably playing two full 90 minutes of international midweek games. If these two come back unscathed then Liverpool should have this in the bag. I’ll go for an exciting game of 3-2 to Liverpool.
Rishay: 2-0 Swansea. I think Liverpool’s high flying start to the season will come to a close. The Swans are a high energy team and I think they will have enough in them to rattle Liverpool out of their comfort zone.
