Ozil is leaving Realmadrid …ok …How much?…50mil…not bad…Where is he going?…Arsenal…WHAT! WOAH!

The arrival of Bale at Real Madrid was always going to mean players leaving. Most expected that player to be Di Maria as Bale will be his direct replacement in the starting line up. Di Maria’s excellent early season form meant that Ancelloti was reluctant to sell him. Ozil got the chop as Madrid are packed in central midfield aswell as Ozil’s ability to secure a much larger transfer fee than Di Maria. This was all expected and foreseeable.

What was not expected was Arsenal swooping in with a 50 million Euros bid for the German international in the final hours of the transfer market and thus making him the third most expensive signing in British football history. This shattered Arsenal’s transfer record as well as wage structure with Ozil being on a reported 150 thousand pounds a week. This is a huge statement of intent from Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board that things at Arsenal might be taking a different turn. Many feared that Arsenal would Panic buy at the end with the likes of Cabaye linked to the club, and many may say that Ozil’s buy can be classified as a panic buy. I say, if this is the type of panic buys Arsenal will be making, then the more the merrier!

Ozil has led the assists charts in Europe for the past five years since joining Real Madrid with 47 overall. He has averaged a pass accuracy of 85% with a goal scoring chance created at least every 25 minutes of play. If this does not get Giroud, Walcott and Podolski excited then nothing will. Just imagining Cazorla and Ozil playing together is too much to fathom. These two in unison will cause havoc in defense lines all across Europe.

Everythign you need to know is clear when the Bale celebratory day for Madrid fans was taken over by grief over Ozil leaving both from players and fans alike.

The repercussions of this transfer can be monumental to Arsenal football club and its fans. Needless to say the fans are already losing their minds. Football shirt print shops on twitter have been claiming that they are running out of Ozil shirts faster than Bale shirts! Thats all swell in the short term, but lets focus on the future. This is a clear message by the Arsenal Board and Arsene Wenger that the thrifty times at Arsenal may be behind them. The 50 million bid for Suarez and now the capture of Ozil is a clear signal that Arsene is no longer afraid to spend. Also it must be said that Ozil joining means he must have been dealt some serious promises by the Arsenal management on the direction this club is going and their proactive plans for the future.

Props must be given where they are deserved. Arsene was bombarded all season long to make signings and rush into them. It is clear now that he waited for the Bale transfer to go through so he would be able to snatch a Di Maria, Benzema or an Ozil as he knew Real would need to recoup some of the Bale money aswell as make some space on their roster. The cherry on top? Tottenham losing their best player while Arsenal directly benefitng from it to sign one of the top players in the world.

Truth must be told that Arsenal still have many unanswered gaping holes in their squad with Ozil seen as a luxury signing. A striker was a must this transfer season and now with Podolski injured, Giroud better stay healthy and in form as he has no competition for his position what so ever. A strong defensive midfeilder such as Fellaini was also a need but i think Flamini’s first performance against spurs was a positive. He may just be the man Arsenal need to protect the twinkle toed duo of Cazorla and Ozil.

With one world class purchase every summer of Ozil’s caliber, Arsenal will surely be on the way to rebuilding a team close to their legendary Invincibles of the 03/04 season. Its all in the momentum and not slowing down. Showing the fans and the players that Ozil is only the beginning of an exciting journey this club has FINALLY decided to embark on.
